Buy Your Big Dog a Large Dog Cage

Today we’ll be talking the importance of having a large dog cage if you own a big dog.  A large plastic dog kennel is commonly called a “crate”.  This is because they are used like shipping crates when you are traveling with your dog.  If you travel with your dog on an airplane, he will need to have a large enough crate for him to fit in it comfortably.

People who own small dogs or even medium sized dogs almost always have a crate for their dog.  For some reason, people with large dogs often neglect buying their dog a crate.  I think it might be because they have a hard time finding one that is big enough for them to fit in comfortably?

It’s true that finding the right large dog cage can be tough.  When it comes to plastic dog cages, your options are pretty limited as they only go up to a certain size.  You best bet at finding the right size of cage for your dog is to go with a welded wire dog cage.  These metal wire dog cages typically come in much larger sizes.

One advantage of a large dog cage made out of welded metal wire is that they can be easily disassembled for storage or transport.  Another advantage is that they are very airy and allow for a lot of ventilation.  This will keep your large dog kennel smelling fresh and clean.

If you are traveling with your big dog and he is riding in the back of a truck, he should always be secured in a large crate.  A lot of people simply put their dogs in the bed of the truck and head on down the road.  This is very dangerous for two reasons.  First, the dog will inevitably want to hang his head over the side of the bed of the truck so he can look forward.  Many dogs receive severe eye injuries doing this!

The second reason that it’s a bad idea and dangerous is that there is a good chance that your dog might jump out.  This happens everyday and more often than not, the dog is quickly run over and killed.  In the best case scenario, your dog will get injured if he jumps out while you are moving.

These are just a couple of reasons why it’s a good idea to buy a large dog cage for your large breed dog.  Don’t neglect this basic need, just because they are big and it might be a bit more difficult to find a dog cage big enough for them.
